Below are some helpful tips:
• Keep the envelop and form, preferably unopened. The postmarked, sealed envelope provides evidence that you attempted to send the Form W-2 on time.
•If you can obtain a new address or find there was an error in the original address, resend a new copy of the form. Keep copies of emails or letters attempting to obtain an updated address.
•Any returned or undeliverable employee copies of Form W-2s should be kept for four years after an attempt at delivery. The IRS requests that you not send undeliverable W-2s to the Social Security Administration.
